Toulouse begin their home programme against Lyon in a fixture that has produced little separation between the two clubs of late. The visitors arrive as the club's second piece of transfer business in the past week, after the loan signing of Zachary Athekame from AC Milan, though attention on the pitch will centre squarely on continuing early-season form.

Recent record shows little to choose between them

Across their last five matches each, Toulouse and Lyon have won twice apiece, a symmetry that extends into their head-to-head history. Toulouse have won each of the last two meetings between the sides, in October and again in May, but Lyon took both encounters before that run, either side of a goalless draw in January 2025.

Toulouse go into the match on the back of a run reading LWDDW, including two wins and two draws in their last five, while Lyon's DWLLW form shows two wins but also two defeats, leaving both clubs with points to prove this early in the campaign.

History favours the hosts, slightly

The most recent meeting, in May, ended 2-1 to Toulouse, following an identical scoreline in Lyon's favour reversed the previous October when Toulouse won 2-1 away from home. With the two sides so evenly matched over their recent matches, the opening weekend fixture at the Stadium de Toulouse looks poised to be closely contested.
