Sofyan Amrabat joins Ajax as a free agent from Fenerbahçe
Ajax have added Sofyan Amrabat to their midfield options after the Morocco international completed a free move from Fenerbahçe on 29 August 2026.
The transfer brings the 2025 season's list of clubs to an end for the well-travelled midfielder, who spent last year on the books of Real Betis, Fenerbahçe and Morocco's national team across various competitions.
A busy year across competitions
Amrabat's 2025 campaign was spread across six different competitive settings. He made 17 appearances for Real Betis in La Liga, totalling 1,296 minutes, and added six outings in the UEFA Europa League for the same club.
His time at Fenerbahçe brought four appearances in the UEFA Champions League and two in the Süper Lig, while international duty saw him turn out for Morocco five times in Africa Cup of Nations qualification and three times in the tournament itself.
In all, he featured 37 times across the year, playing 2,674 minutes and scoring twice.
Ajax now add an experienced central midfielder to their squad as the new season continues, with Amrabat's varied recent workload across league, continental and international football offering a picture of a player accustomed to regular minutes at a high level.
