Roma have completed the signing of Santiago Castro from Bologna, with the transfer confirmed on 28 July 2026. The attacker arrives in the Italian capital ahead of the new season as the club continue their pre-season preparations.

A well-used forward

Castro was a regular fixture for Bologna throughout 2025, making 51 competitive appearances and totalling 3,444 minutes across all competitions. He contributed 11 goals over that spell, underlining his role as a dependable presence in the final third.

The bulk of his work came in Serie A, where he featured 35 times for 2,365 minutes. He also gained continental experience with 12 appearances and 825 minutes in the UEFA Europa League, alongside further outings in the Super Cup and Coppa Italia.

What it means for Roma

The addition gives Roma another attacking option as they build their squad for the campaign ahead. Castro's volume of minutes last year suggests a player accustomed to featuring heavily across multiple competitions, something that could prove useful for a club balancing domestic and continental commitments.
