AS Roma face Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico on 27 October as Serie A reaches its ninth round of the season. The home side go into the fixture having won two of their last five matches, with two draws and one defeat completing a mixed run that included a draw in their most recent outing.

Form lines up evenly

Cagliari arrive in Rome having also collected two wins from their last five games, though their sequence began with back-to-back losses before two consecutive victories closed it out. With both sides level on wins across that stretch, there is little separating them coming into matchday 9.

A history that favours Roma, but not always

The two clubs have met five times since 2024, with Roma winning three of those encounters, Cagliari claiming one, and the other finishing level. The most recent meeting, in February 2026, ended in a 2-0 win for Roma, but Cagliari's victory in Cagliari back in December showed they are capable of getting the better of their hosts when conditions allow.

That December result remains the one blemish on an otherwise Roma-dominated recent head-to-head, and it is a reminder that Cagliari have found a way past this opponent before, even if not at the Stadio Olimpico.
