Roma cling to top of Serie A with no room to spare after five rounds
AS Roma continue to sit at the summit of Serie A having played five matches this season, but their position at the top carries no cushion whatsoever. The table shows Roma level on points with the sides immediately behind them, meaning the smallest slip could hand the lead elsewhere before the next round is out.
A wide-open race
With the campaign seven matchdays old across the division, the absence of any gap at the top underlines how tightly contested the early running has been. Roma's position is one of leadership rather than dominance, and every fixture from here carries the weight of a potential swing at the head of the table.
What comes next
For Roma, staying top will depend on converting their current parity into genuine daylight over their rivals in the coming rounds. For everyone else in the chasing group, the message is equally clear: the leaders are there to be caught, and it will not take much to do it.
