Lyon have added attacking reinforcement for the coming campaign by taking L. Openda on loan from Juventus, with the move confirmed on 27 July 2026.

The switch brings the forward to Ligue 1 ahead of the new season, giving Lyon another option in the final third as they build their squad during the transfer window.

A season of limited minutes

Openda's 2025 competitive record shows 36 appearances and 1,162 minutes across his time with Juventus and RB Leipzig, with two goals to his name in that spell.

The bulk of his appearances came in Serie A with Juventus, where he featured 24 times for 676 minutes, while he also had eight outings in the UEFA Champions League totalling 320 minutes. His stint at RB Leipzig included brief contributions in the DFB Pokal and Bundesliga before further minutes with Juventus in the Coppa Italia.

What it means for Lyon

The loan gives Lyon the chance to work with an attacker who has featured across four different competitions over the past year, even if regular game time has been hard to come by.

With pre-season underway and the transfer market still active, the move adds fresh competition to Lyon's forward line as they prepare for the campaign ahead.
