Manchester United host Sabah FA in Champions League league-phase opener
Manchester United open their UEFA Champions League league-stage campaign at Old Trafford on 10 September, welcoming Sabah FA for a Matchday 1 fixture that arrives with the two sides trending in opposite directions.
Contrasting form lines
United go into the match having won just once in their last five outings across all competitions, a run that also includes two draws and two defeats. Sabah FA, by contrast, arrive on the back of three wins from their last four, a notably stronger sequence heading into continental competition.
That gap in recent results means Sabah FA carry the better momentum into Manchester, even if the fixture is being staged at Old Trafford in front of United's own supporters.
What is at stake
A Matchday 1 win would give either side an early foothold in the league-stage table, and for United in particular a victory would offer a chance to arrest the inconsistency that has marked their recent form. Sabah FA will hope to carry their winning habit into a much bigger stage against English opposition.
