Lens face form test against Sporting CP in Champions League clash
Lens welcome Sporting CP to Stade Bollaert-Delelis on 13 October for matchday 2 of the Champions League league stage, a meeting between two sides heading in rather different directions over recent weeks.
Contrasting form lines
Lens arrive on the back of a mixed run of results, having won one and lost three of their last five matches, with a solitary victory sandwiched between defeats. That inconsistency contrasts sharply with Sporting CP, who have lost none of their last five outings, winning three and drawing two.
The gap in recent results is stark enough to make Sporting the clearly form side heading into this fixture, even allowing for the fact that both clubs now switch focus to continental competition after their domestic campaigns.
For Lens, the visit of a Portuguese side unbeaten in five represents a stern early test in the league phase, while Sporting will look to carry their momentum from domestic matches into their second group outing. The match kicks off at 16:45 UTC at Bollaert-Delelis.
