Galatasaray welcome Barcelona to Rams Park on 13 October for their UEFA Champions League League Stage Matchday 2 fixture, with the Istanbul side's recent fortunes and the Catalan club's current momentum providing a sharp contrast ahead of kick-off.

Galatasaray arrive on the back of a mixed run of results, having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches, a sequence that offers little rhythm heading into a demanding European test. That inconsistency comes just days after the club confirmed five absences ahead of this fixture, a situation that will add further pressure to their preparations.

Barcelona, by contrast, head into Istanbul unbeaten in five straight outings, all wins, giving them the clearly stronger recent record of the two sides. That run has followed a home victory over Getafe at Camp Nou as they looked to extend their winning sequence, and it leaves them firm favourites on paper when assessing current form alone.

History favours the visitors

The two sides have met twice before, both occasions coming in the UEFA Europa League in March 2022. Barcelona won 2-1 in Istanbul and the reverse fixture in Catalonia finished goalless, meaning Galatasaray are still searching for their first win over Barcelona across those previous meetings.

With Barcelona's current form far superior and history also leaning their way, Galatasaray will need a marked improvement on their recent output if they are to trouble their visitors at Rams Park.
