Fenerbahçe host Roma in Champions League league-stage opener
Fenerbahçe begin their UEFA Champions League league-stage campaign at home to AS Roma, with the fixture at the Chobani Stadium Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu in Istanbul marking matchday one for both clubs.
The match arrives with the Turkish side fresh from a mixed run domestically and Roma travelling in similarly competitive shape, setting up an even contest to open the group phase.
Form guide
Fenerbahçe head into the game on the back of a five-match sequence of LWWWD, having won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five outings.
Roma's recent run reads WWWDL, also yielding three wins from their last five, meaning both sides arrive with identical win tallies and a shared sense of momentum heading into the tie.
With neither team holding a clear edge in recent results, the opening Champions League league-stage encounter in Istanbul looks finely poised between two sides who have both won three of their last five matches.
