Facundo Medina completes move from Marseille to Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of defender Facundo Medina from Marseille, with the transfer confirmed on 9 August 2026.
The move brings to Leverkusen a player who was a regular fixture for Marseille last season, featuring across multiple competitions.
A busy 2025 for Medina
Medina made 27 competitive appearances in 2025, amassing 2,093 minutes without scoring, split between Marseille and a brief spell at Lens.
The bulk of his football came in Ligue 1 for Marseille, where he featured 17 times for 1,376 minutes, while he also had four UEFA Champions League outings totalling 306 minutes and four Coupe de France appearances worth 253 minutes.
He also had a single Trophée des Champions appearance for Marseille and one Ligue 1 game for Lens earlier in the year before his move to the south coast club.
What it means for Leverkusen
Medina's arrival gives Leverkusen a defender with a substantial workload behind him, having played across four different competitions in the space of a single year.
With the new campaign only a matchday or two old, the club will look to integrate him quickly as they build towards their domestic and European fixtures this season.
