Espanyol welcome Elche to RCDE Stadium in Cornella on matchday 7 of La Liga, a fixture between two sides yet to find much consistency in the opening weeks of the season.

Espanyol arrive having taken one win, one draw and three defeats from their last five league outings, a modest return but still marginally better than the visitors' recent record.

Elche's winless run

Elche have not tasted victory in their last five matches, with one draw and four defeats leaving them searching for a turnaround. That barren sequence makes this trip to Cornella a chance to arrest the slide rather than build on momentum.

Espanyol's own form has been patchy too, but the solitary win in their favour in recent weeks gives them a slight edge heading into the meeting.

A history of tight contests

The two sides have met regularly in recent seasons, and the head-to-head has often been close. Their last two league meetings both ended in draws, including a 2-2 stalemate in Elche last March, while Espanyol's most recent home win in the fixture came in October last year with a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

Further back, the pair also shared points in a 2-2 draw during a Segunda División meeting in April 2024, while Espanyol won 2-0 and 1-0 in earlier encounters in that division and in La Liga respectively.
