Erlein completes move from Hoffenheim to Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of defender Luca Erlein from 1899 Hoffenheim, the club confirmed on 24 July 2026, as the pre-season transfer window continues to take shape across the Bundesliga.
A season of regular football
Erlein's move follows a productive 2025 campaign in which he made 31 competitive appearances for Hoffenheim II in the 3. Liga, totalling 1,459 minutes on the pitch. He did not register a goal during that run of games.
That volume of minutes points to a defender who was a consistent fixture for the second string, and Leverkusen will hope the experience gained provides a solid foundation as he adjusts to life at a new club.
With the transfer completed ahead of the new season, Erlein now joins Leverkusen's squad as they continue their preparations for the campaign ahead.
