Celje host in-form Omonia Nicosia in Europa League matchday two
Celje welcome Omonia Nicosia to Stadion Z'dežele on 15 October for matchday two of the Europa League league stage, with the two sides arriving in sharply contrasting moods. Celje have managed just a single win from their last five matches across competitions, a run that has included three defeats and a draw, while Omonia Nicosia have been one of the form teams in Europe, winning four of their last five and losing none.
Form tells a story
The gap in recent results is stark. Celje's sole victory in that five-match stretch sits alongside three losses and a draw, leaving the Slovenian side needing a response in front of their own supporters. Omonia Nicosia, by contrast, have lost none of their last five, with four wins and a draw underlining the consistency they take into this trip.
What is at stake
Both clubs are looking to build on their opening league-stage fixture, and a positive result here would go a long way towards shaping their respective campaigns. For Celje, the match offers a chance to arrest a difficult run of results on home soil, while Omonia Nicosia will be eager to carry their recent momentum into continental competition and maintain the unbeaten sequence they have built across their last five outings.
