Atletico Madrid return to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano to face Osasuna on matchday six of La Liga, a fixture that has produced fairly regular home success in recent seasons but no shortage of shocks along the way.

Both clubs arrive with matching form figures — two wins apiece from their last five league outings, with a draw and a couple of defeats each rounding things out. Atletico's sequence reads WLLWD, while Osasuna have gone LLWWD, suggesting neither side has settled into a consistent run just yet.

A history of home dominance, with exceptions

Atletico Madrid have won three of the last five meetings between these two, including both fixtures last season, when they beat Osasuna 2-1 away in May and 1-0 at home the previous October.

Osasuna, though, have shown they are capable of springing a result at the Metropolitano's expense in this fixture, having won 2-0 in Pamplona in May 2025 and produced a striking 4-1 away victory over Atletico Madrid back in May 2024.

What is at stake

With the season still in its early rounds, matchday six offers both clubs a chance to build some momentum rather than decide anything definitive. Atletico Madrid will look to home advantage and their recent head-to-head edge to move back towards winning ways, while Osasuna will point to their historical capacity to trouble this opponent as reason for confidence.

Given how evenly matched the two sides' recent form has been, this looks set to be a closely contested affair rather than a formality for the hosts.
