Aston Villa host Viking with both sides in form for Champions League clash
Aston Villa welcome Viking to Villa Park on 21 October for matchday three of the Champions League league stage, a fixture that pits two sides arriving in excellent recent form against one another.
Form guide favours neither side
Aston Villa have won four and drawn one of their last five matches, a run that includes no defeats, while Viking have matched that record almost exactly, also winning four and drawing one of their own recent five outings. Both clubs have claimed four victories apiece across those matches, leaving little to separate them on current form.
That balance makes Villa Park an intriguing stage for the contest, with neither side able to claim a clear psychological advantage heading into the game based on recent results alone.
What's at stake
With the league stage still in its early rounds, a positive result for either side would offer a timely boost to their European campaigns. Aston Villa will be looking to use home advantage to continue their own strong run, while Viking will hope their consistent away form translates into a result on the road.
