Alaves welcome Malaga to the Estadio de Mendizorroza on 23 October for a Matchday 10 fixture in La Liga, with both clubs arriving in need of a result to arrest their recent slides.

Neither side has managed a victory in their last five league matches. Alaves have lost four of their previous five outings, with their only point coming from a draw, while Malaga have drawn twice and lost three times across the same span. Wins in those matches stand level at zero apiece.

A history that favours the hosts

The two clubs have met five times in recent years, and Alaves have come out on top in four of those encounters. Their most recent meeting, in May 2023 in Segunda División, ended 2-1 in Alaves's favour, while Malaga's sole win in the sequence came in December 2022.

Further back, Alaves also won both of their La Liga meetings with Malaga during the 2017-18 season, home and away, underlining a pattern that has generally run in their favour whenever the two have shared a division.

What is at stake

With neither team carrying momentum into the fixture, the match offers both a chance to halt their respective runs. Alaves will be hoping home advantage at Mendizorroza can prove decisive once again, as it has done in past meetings, while Malaga will be looking to end their own run without a win and secure something to build on.
